CHHOP and Benny’s Brown Bag Set To Collaborate On CHHOPtoberfest 2024

September 9, 2024

Peekskill, NY -- Caring for the Hungry and Homeless of Peekskill (CHHOP) and local craft sandwich & provisions shop, Benny’s Brown Bag, announces CHHOPtoberfest – a collaboration to bring greater awareness to the work of CHHOP-operated Fred’s Pantry in Peekskill.

Benny’s has created two different German-themed CHHOPtoberfest sandwich specials which will run for one week each, back-to-back. The first will run the week of October 2 – October 6, and the second will run from October 9 – October 13. To commemorate this community support event, a limited-edition collectable, CHHOPtoberfest farmer’s market tote, will be available to purchase – only at Benny’s - with all profits going to support the CHHOP-operated Fred’s Pantry. Customers can also utilize a QR code on site to donate directly to CHHOP.

Cynthia Knox, CEO of CHHOP said, “Everyone (including us!) LOVES the sandwiches at Benny’s Brown Bag - as well as their commitment to supporting the community around them. Come out and enjoy their (always) creative CHHOPtoberfest specials, and you too can support those in our area in their time of need!”

Bettina Warshaw and Vincent Cox, co-owners of Benny’s Brown Bag said, “We have been supporting CHHOP since the day we moved into our shop. Benny’s wants to spotlight their cause, positivity and drive to the community at large. CHHOP’s mission and ethos align with Benny’s, and we are honored to be included in this collaborative campaign.”

CHHOP-operated Fred’s Pantry is Peekskill’s largest local resource for those in the community facing food insecurity. Fred’s Pantry is focused on providing fresh, nutritious, locally sourced food items for those in need. Study after study illustrates that healthy foods provide not only physical well-being, but also mental health benefits. In 2023 alone, Fred’s Pantry provided over 18,000 households with nearly a quarter of a million meals. 62% of these households were new to the pantry.
